REACT Foundation:
Kelly is proud to be on the board of directors for this organization:
REACT Foundation stands for Resources for Autistic Children’s Therapy. While there are other excellent organizations that are focused on research to prevent and cure autism, REACT Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and financial support to the families and therapy teams already involved with children diagnosed with autism. The initial chapter is Orange County, California, but the Foundation hopes to expand over time. While there is no known “cause” for autism, one thing that all parents and professionals agree upon is that early intervention is the key. With services comes great expense. We at REACT Foundation feel that our focus is helping already diagnosed children NOW by providing funds to help manage a huge educational challenge, both in school districts and privately.Financial support will be raised and distributed in an effort to support children and their teams in many ways, including:
· Providing funding for necessary teaching materials and equipment to schools and programs in need that are directly supporting children with autism.
· Providing funding to public schools, non-profit educational programs and parents to attend trainings and conferences in the leading areas of support and research to children diagnosed with autism. We feel this is important as it is the teachers, teaching assistants and families that spend the majority of time with children.
· Provide scholarships to families in need of services for their children that they cannot afford.

Spirit League
Kelly is proud to be an advisory member to this organization:
Spirit!League offers children with special needs a way to play team sports in a positive, self-esteem building environment.
Spirit!League is for children who are physically active (ambulatory), and have the emotional ability to participate — but have difficulty keeping up with their peers. We emphasize the learning of basic sports skills and physical fitness for higher functioning but developmentally challenged boys and girls, ages 6-15, in southern Orange County, California. Our mission is to safely help these children develop the skills, knowledge, discipline and confidence necessary to play team sports on their school playgrounds and in their neighborhoods.
Our Players are typically unable to fully participate in team sports due to one of the following challenges:
- Timidity
- Obesity
- Learning disabilities
- High functioning autism
- Aspergers
- Other mild physical & emotional disabilities
Programs are co-ed , competitive, and disciplined, offering participants an opportunity to build self-esteem, create friendships, experience teamwork and have lots of fun.
Parent Participation is required. Plan for an enjoyable experience for the entire family where long lasting friendships are formed and everyone has fun and grows.

The Autism Tissue Program
Kelly is proud to be a tissue donor to this program
Our understanding of autism today is based largely on the generosity and foresight of families, who during a very difficult time in their lives when a family member has died, made the decision to donate the brain for research. You can make a difference in autism spectrum research by knowing more about this program.
The Research
The Autism Tissue Program has a world-wide network of researchers seeking to understand how and why the brain is different. The brain is the organ that is expressing the behaviors that we identify with autism (repetitive and restricted activities, lack of communication and social skills) – no matter what the cause. Brain tissue is vital because it is the only way to see individual brain cells and read the DNA and genetic messages to get a better understanding of autism. Use of post-mortem tissues for histological and biochemical methods has in the past been of crucial importance to understand and developing treatment options in many CNS disorders.
Brain Tissue Donation
Te Autism Tissue Program is a campaign to understand and treat a whole spectrum of pervasive developmental disorders; and the sad fact is that the most precious tissue for research will be from our youngest children who die unexpectedly. Because of the high hereditability of autism spectrum disorders, we encourage all family members to donate. Researchers need brain tissue from "normal controls," i.e. people who are neither autistic nor related to people with autism, to compare to tissue from affected individuals and their families members.
To avoid undue financial burden on families, the Autism Tissue Program assumes the any additional cost of tissue recovery.
How to Donate
Talk about this with your family and sign up with us on this site. If a death occurs, call, or provide medical professionals with, the 24-hour number for the Autism Tissue Program, 1-877-333-0999, for donation to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center to proceed. Organ donor programs do not automatically recover brain tissue so your consent and the call are necessary.

CAN Merges with Autism Speaks
Two very influential organizations merge. See the letter from CAN below:
Though the word friends hardly does justice to how we feel about you. You have been our brothers and sisters, our comrades in battle, our shoulders to cry on, the arms that lift us up. When we look in each other’s eyes we see the same thing--that crazy mix of determination, sadness, endless love and hope for a better future. We are writing today to tell you about a big decision that we are making at Cure Autism Now; we pray that it will be the right one and we hope that you will join us. We have decided that we can best serve the people we love with autism by joining forces with Autism Speaks and becoming one much, much stronger organization. The urgency with which we approach our mission will be the same, the optimism and creativity and compassion will be the same. But we are betting that our ability to get the message out, reach more people and fund more research will be greater. And it needs to be.Because even though things are better than they were 10 years ago, more people are getting diagnosed than ever before. The numbers are going up not down, there is more sadness not less and there is more that we must get done.We are bringing our innovative science programs, including AGRE, ATN, Clinical Trials Network and Innovative Technology for Autism. We are creating a new well-funded program that will pursue high risk, high reward research. And we will be adding more money and more reach and the ability to truly spread the message all over the country. We will be joining up with thousands and thousands of other families who are as passionate as we are. And if we were loud before, we will be louder.
We are writing to say that as we join Autism Speaks, we pledge to stay true to everything Cure Autism Now is and to bring that into the new organization. And so we ask you to come with us. We ask you to get more committed, show your passion with even more power and dedication. We will be getting bigger and stronger and tougher and more insistent. As we grow, we will get even faster not slower, our hearts will grow bigger, we will listen to you harder. Whether our kids are 3 or 30, can't say a word or can't stop talking about the baseball schedule, we want better lives for them. And whether we are called Cure Autism Now, Autism Speaks, or that perennial favorite in our house, Autism Sucks, our commitment to a better life for those with autism does not change.

About Us
Founded in 1995 by the parent of a child with autism, our goal here at Different Roads to Learning is to be your complete resource for ABA materials for children with autism spectrum disorders. In what is often an overwhelming experience, we strive to support the hope and dedication of parents and professionals who devote themselves to helping our exceptional children learn. As parents, we have spent years trying to find the appropriate materials needed to educate our children. Many educational materials needed for ABA or Verbal Behavior programs are not easily available and are extremely difficult to find. As professionals, we strive to provide a haven for those parents who are seeking specific products that meet their children’s needs. The appropriate educational tools for one child may not be the same for another. We merchandise and market our products to fill the needs of a diverse spectrum of children, catering to different ages and abilities. As our customer, you come first. If the products you purchased aren’t appropriate for your needs, we’ll accept your returns. If there’s an urgent need and you require your materials right away, we’ll find a way to expedite your order.
